Ninety for 2009

jwt_logoJ. Walter Thompson, a well-known marketing communications company headquartered in New York, has released a list of 90 things to watch for in 2009. A few things on the list caught my eye: “The Decline of E-Mail,” “Good Old-Fashioned Cooking,” “No ‘Paper’ in Newspapers,” “Nutrition Replaces Dieting,” and “The Small Movement.” All of those are good things in my mind. I guess we’ll have to check back in December to see how far off the mark JWT is/was.

In the same press release, Ann Mack, director of trendspotting at JWT, was quoted as saying that the recession will make the biggest impact on our lives in 2009.

“A lot of what to watch in 2009 relates to consumers’ adaptation to the economic situation, from ‘affordable nutrition’ to ‘more under one roof,’” she added.
